#Lore24 Weekly Post (9/52) - Remnants of Earth & the Urban Charter

Earth

Large swathes of Earth's surface are covered in lush vegetation, with forests, jungles, and meadows reclaiming abandoned urban areas. The cities that have survived to some effect have become overgrown ruins, blending seamlessly with the natural environment. Wildlife is thriving in these re-wilded landscapes, and establishing new ecosystems.

Scattered throughout the planet are regions of technological wastelands, where the remnants of human civilization lie in decay. These areas are dangerous and unstable, filled with malfunctioning robots, toxic waste, and other hazards. However, they also hold valuable resources and ancient artifacts waiting to be discovered by brave adventurers.

The Return to Urban Spaces

Although the decision to at least establish a single settled community on Earth was decided by the Kilogem Accord over pragmatic reasons, the decision to expand and establish cities beyond La Ciudad Autónoma was debated and decided after several years of lengthy discourse. These reasons (and expectations) were eventually codified into what is known as the Kilogem's Urban Charter, which argues that magichine cities established by the Kilogem Accord must uphold the following standards & practices: cultural preservation of sapiosentient beings, environmental stewardship, community building, education, active diplomacy & cooperation, mutual aid, and historical significance.

Magichines preserve and honor human culture and heritage by creating cities as living museums and cultural centers, housing archives, museums, and institutions dedicated to preserving human history, art, and traditions.

With advanced technology and ecological understanding, magichines should rehabilitate and restore Earth's ecosystems. Cities serve as hubs for environmental conservation efforts, sustainable living practices, and reforestation projects.

Magichines foster a sense of belonging and solidarity by establishing cities, promoting social interaction, collaboration, and mutual support among themselves.

Cities are centers of learning and innovation, where magichines engage in interdisciplinary research, experimentation, and knowledge-sharing, driving scientific progress and technological advancements.

Cities facilitate diplomatic relations and cooperation with other sentient beings. They serve as diplomatic hubs for interstellar diplomacy, trade negotiations, and cultural exchanges.

Magichines provide humanitarian aid to non-sentient and sentient beings in need. Cities function as humanitarian hubs, offering shelter, medical care, and assistance during environmental disasters or conflicts.

Earth holds historical and spiritual significance for magichines. Cities honor Earth's legacy and connect with its spiritual significance, perceiving it as a sacred place in the evolution of sentient life.

By establishing these standards and practices, the Kilogem Accord ensures that the expansion and development of magichine cities on Earth are purposeful, and aligned with the collective goals and ideals of the magichine society. It reflects a commitment to fostering a sustainable and harmonious existence for all inhabitants of the cities, as well as honoring the legacy and significance of Earth in the broader context of sapiosentient life.
